De Torenhoeck is looking for a new roommate from April 1st
Type of cohouse
Shared home
Personal space
The soon available bedroom on the 1st floor is recently finished, bright and 24m². Original wooden floor, large built-in closets, acoustically insulating glass, a small balcony, curtains and light fixtures (fully dimmable) present. Excellent Bowers & Wilkins sound boxes present, connected to high-end amplifier, network player and extensive music server.
Common parts
The Torenhoeck is a historic heritage house from 1883 on the fairytale St-Elisabethbeguinage, which has been thoroughly renovated and restored in detail in recent years. The top 2 floors are 2 autonomous entities (Lieselotte and Wendelien live there, nice and quiet neighbours-under-the-same-roof), on the bottom 2 floors we currently live with 3 together, and when Femke leaves (not yet determined when) with 2. The kitchen and living room are brand new and equipped and finished to a high standard, with an adjoining terrace and a city garden. In the basement there is a washing machine and space for a bicycle that may not be left outside. When living with 2, there is also a communal sitting area and office space of 24m². The newly finished bathroom has a large, double shower in terrazzo and a double sink. The sunny terrace on the 1st floor overlooks the Old Beguinage. On the 4th floor there is another spectacular communal roof garden (design and planting after the winter) with the whole of Ghent 360° at your feet.

Something more about your co-residents
Olivier is the owner of the house; passionately working for 3 years to turn the Torenhoeck into a gem. He also has his own architectural firm, and is a great music lover (lots of music in the house!). (Cycling) Cyclist, and determined to pick up running again after the renovation. Olivier has a straightforward, honest, direct and analytical personality - does what he says and vice versa, with an emphasis on commitment and accuracy, but a disaster in time management. Femke has lived in the Torenhoeck for 3 years now and has bravely gone through the entire renovation. She is a speech therapist by training, and has reinvented herself in all sorts of ways after her last job in the past year; in February she will start an internship at a school. Femke draws, rows, sings, plays the piano a bit, is caring and caring, empathetic and calm, patient and tolerant. Femke is slowly looking forward to a place of her own. When she leaves the house, we share the cohousing with two and an extra living room, music and work space will be added. From that moment on, the fixed house contribution will be €600 instead of €450.
These things we like to do togther
We choose to really live together, we spend our free time at home as much as possible in the common areas. We live together in flexible coziness; whoever is at home and can make time for it, cooks for the others who eat at home (without a fixed rotation). It is wonderful to only have to cook once a week, but always have delicious and fresh food on the table. Cat lovers (house cat Melchior probably also likes to sleep over at your place) have an advantage.
We are looking for someone who
Our ideal housemate works (NO students, unless PhDs), is preferably at least around 30 and is a strict non-smoker. A housemate we can count on, who keeps promises and agreements, with a spontaneous, automatic commitment to the house and housemates. It works both ways: what we expect from you, you will get from us. If this basis is good, we would like to get to know you well.
Practical:
- Long-term cohabitation agreement for at least 1 year with 3 months notice;
- Domicile is mandatory;
- Melchior rules the house, so extra pets are not possible.

Location
Province: Oost-Vlaanderen
Town: Gent
Street: Edmond Boonenstraat
Interesting places nearby
The Sint-Elisabeth beguinage is one of the most beautiful places in Ghent. Quiet, and yet in the center. The location benefits from the advantages of the peripheral neighborhoods (nice shops of all colors and smells, the Vieze Gasten and the Koer nearby) and is the ideal base for sports enthusiasts (running rounds Bourgoyen, Blaarmeersen, Watersportbaan, Coupure, start of cycling rounds along the Vaarten).
Access
The house is located a stone's throw from the Gravensteen, but is also easily accessible (both stations less than 10' by bike).
