Jo has a doctorate in literature and works full-time as a career counselor for PhDs and Postdocs at Ghent University. He also occasionally gives private Dutch lessons for non-native speakers. In addition to being a teacher and career counselor, he is also an art photographer.
Marieke is a social assistant and has been active at the FPS Justice for 12 years. Two years ago she started her own business as a conflict mediator. At malgré tout mediation, she and her partner mainly focus on family matters (divorces). She combines mediation with work as a manager at a party and event location.
We are big culture lovers and fill our time with museum visits, traveling and music (we both play the piano). We also do a lot of sports (cycling and horse riding) and are socially oriented. We love meeting people and have always had people from all over the world stay with us through Couchsurfing. It is no coincidence that Marieke works as a maître: she enjoys working in the 'hospitality' where she can combine social contacts with her love for good wine and good food. And Jo finds enriching encounters in his work as a portrait photographer.

These things we like to do togther

We want you to feel at home with us and are happy to share the other fully furnished rooms with you. In addition to the kitchen, bathroom and very spacious living room (with piano), there is a large room on the first floor that can be used flexibly as a work space, to have some private time or to exercise, for example. We look forward to cooking and talking together every now and then. And of course privacy is just as important for everyone.

We are looking for someone who

Someone with a portion of life experience who would like to help create a warm place and who, just like us, is looking for a good balance between living together and respecting each other's privacy. We enjoy an interesting conversation, occasionally eating together or watching a movie. It's nice if the house is tidy and clean, but we don't exaggerate.
